Vintage style highlights inaugural Miss Red, White & Retro

The spirit of patriotism, nostalgia, and community came together Saturday, Aug. 22, at Buffalo American Legion Post 270 for the first annual Miss Red, White & Retro.

The event featured a pin-up competition where contestants took the stage dressed in vintage rockabilly style, bringing a touch of old-fashioned glamour to the competition, creating a colorful and lively atmosphere at the Legion. Those in attendance enjoyed a day filled with classic flair and entertainment while supporting a cause close to the hearts of many in the community.   

Beyond the fun and retro atmosphere, the event had a meaningful purpose. Proceeds helped raise money and awareness for local veteran service organizations, Roger Up, and Blue Star Mothers, with food and beverage sales supporting the Legion’s on-going mission of helping veterans and their families.

Adding to the nostalgic theme was a cruise-in car show, which brought a collection of vintage and classic automobiles to the event. Car enthusiasts and community members had the opportunity to stroll among the vehicles, admiring their craftsmanship, upkeep, and restoration, helping transport the event back to another era. 

With pin-up fashion, classic cars, patriotism, and community spirit all coming together in one event, Miss Red, White & Retro offered a unique way to enjoy the past and give back to local veterans.
