William Pemberton, 80
William “Bill” James Pemberton, Jr., age 80, of Monticello - Beloved Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather & Friend - passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2021.
Bill was born in Otsego, Minnesota on November 14, 1940, to Ruth and William Sr. He was the oldest of 13 children and fell in love with roller skating in high school. It’s no wonder his heart led him to build and operate the Monticello Roller Rink for 20+ years. He was proud of the fact that he proved to those who didn’t believe, he could run a successful business with a staff comprised mostly of teenagers - that he could do just that. All of the kids that ever worked at the rink and the “regulars” - they were his family too. They were his bonus kids. He loved them all. You could see it in his big bright smile.
He also loved being outdoors. Fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes. He was especially fond of sharing his passion for those activities with his grandkids. It’s safe to say none of them had ever seen him without a cap until 2003!
William was preceded in death by his parents Ruth & William Sr.; wife Elizabeth; siblings Doug, Loren, and twin sister Wilma Jean.

A public celebration of life is being planned for late summer - early fall.
Dana Setzer-White, 57
Dana M. Setzer-White, born September 15, 1963, lived completely, with a fierce love for family, friends, pets and her roses until the day that was chosen for her to be our cherished memory, June 15, 2021.
Dana was fond of lists, she loved making a list and crossing off her accomplishments. Her greatest accomplishments were not in the day-to-day things, but in the true grit of life. Her years of Military Service, the bonds that were formed shaped the person she became.
Her commitment to her wife Deb and their 28 years together, her love and often needed reality check for the six children, Jeremy, Tara, Melanie, Adam, Alex and Seth they raised together, her love and support to their cherished spouses, Carrie, Erik, Todd, Briana, Chantelle and Bri that were enveloped Into the family, her amazement at the depths of her love for her grandchildren, Samaira, Rochelle, Ethan, Eric, Jessa, Victor, Michael, Izzie, Maddie, Carter, Liam, Jamison, Aria, Veda and Charli, the extra blessings she felt when her great-grandchildren, Ezra and Harlan were born, her Aunt Julia, Uncle Joe and Cousin Keith who loved and continued to support her to adulthood, her siblings Johathan, Verdia, Kim, Gwanyca who she found late but never too late, and to her Friends too many to name, you know who you are, she felt both grateful and honored to share time with you.
Her life will continue within all of you.

Kenneth Shultz, 98
Kenneth Shultz passed away peacefully at his home, on Thursday, June 17, 2021. He was 98 years old.
Kenneth was born at home on the family farm southeast of Monticello, the only son of Harry and Edla (Matson) Shultz. Kenneth graduated from Monticello’s High School in 1940, he had great pride in the fact that he lettered in four sports: basketball, football, baseball and track. Kenneth stayed home after high school and worked on the family farm alongside his dad until his unexpected death, Kenneth was only 21 years old and took over as head of household for his family.
On November 1, 1944, Kenneth was united in marriage to Miss Susie Schultz. Their union was blessed with six children, Joyce, Janice, Brenda, Jerry, Beverly and Brian. The young family eventually took over his parent’s farm and raised their family there. When Kenneth and Susie were not busy running the farm, they spent as much time with family as possible. Whether attending the kids’ activities or making Saturday morning cookouts or the traditional big Sunday meal after church. He was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church, which later joined the Community United Methodist Church in Monticello, eventually selling their land for the new church to be built on.
Kenneth could be found having coffee at the town café in the afternoons checking up on town activity or bowling a few frames in the evenings. He loved all Minnesota sports! He attended every Monticello High School football game faithfully for 40 years and then for seven years due to health reasons started only attending the home games, he loved football! Kenneth was hardworking, caring and truly a family man, willing to stop whatever he was doing to for his family, friends or strangers in need of help. Susie passed away at the age of 69, Kenneth took care of her at home for the last eight years of their 49-year marriage, a true servant caring for the love of his life.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susie; infant son, Jerry; and sister, Margaret Oman.
He is survived by his children, Joyce (Jeff) Aydt, Janice (Denny) Barthel, Brenda (Ron) Yager, Beverly (Ralph) Mack and Brian Shultz; 11 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church (9225 Jason Ave. NE, Monticello, MN), with visitation taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., also at the church. Interment will take place immediately following at the Riverside Cemetery of Monticello, MN.

Please come join the celebration of life for John and Theresa Oliver on Sunday, June 27th, 2021, in Hanover at Settler’s Park from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Come enjoy some food, drinks and share memories of John and Theresa. There will be notebooks around to write down stories or memories of each of them or both of them.There will be a private family interment also on Sunday prior to the celebration at the Hanover City Cemetery. Scott Quady
A Celebration of Life will be held for Scott Quady on Saturday, July 10, 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Steve and Dawn Brings residence, 7725 15th St. SW, Howard Lake, MN 55349. This will be a casual social gathering to honor Scott’s life.
George Veches
George Victor Veches, age 71, of Buffalo, MN passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020, at Mercy Hospital with loved ones by his side. Everyone is invited to join us on George’s final cruise in his ’56 GMC pickup to the St. Francis Cemetery. His journey will begin on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the Buffalo American Legion, located at 304 10th Avenue South, Buffalo, MN. Plan on meeting at the Buffalo American Legion and leaving the parking lot by 11:50 a.m. Please arrive early so we can line up for his final cruise. A graveside service with military honors will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the St. Francis Cemetery at 1300 Barton Avenue South, Buffalo, MN. After the graveside service, please join us at the Buffalo American Legion from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate his life and to share with us come wonderful memories of George.
