Cornelius Adickes, 81

Cornelius Clarence “Casey” Adickes, age 81, of Monticello, and formerly of Annandale, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at The St. Cloud Hospital.

He was born in Silver Creek Township, Wright County on March 5, 1941, the son of Clarence and Dorothy Mary (Van Lith) Adickes. Casey graduated from Buffalo High School in 1959. On February 9, 1963, Cornelius “Casey” Adickes was joined in holy marriage to Prudence “Pru” Kurz in St. Louis Park. God blessed their marriage with three children. He was a former milk hauler in the Annandale/Maple Lake area and formerly was a machinist for forty-one years at Washington Scientific in Long Lake. Casey enjoyed fishing, hunting and trap shooting. He was especially fond of his grandchildren.

Cornelius is survived by his loving wife, Pru Adickes; children, Graydon Adickes, Jolene Richner, and Leanne Adickes; grandchildren, Michael and Rachel, Keith and Christopher; siblings, Mary Ellen (Bob) Morgan, Marlene (Burt) Ramthun, Alan (Carol) Adickes, Marla Maynard, Myra (Will) Decker, Monna Rae Adickes, and Madonna (Dan Rasset) Adickes; brother-in-law, Jim Epple; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Margarita Olson, Raymond Adickes and Marcia Epple.

A Private Celebration of Life for Casey Adickes will be held at a later date.

Phyllis Deisting, 96

On Saturday, November 12, 2022, Phyllis M. (Asplund) Deisting, age 96, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully.

Phyllis was born March 31, 1926, in Edina, MN, to the late Theodore and Mabel (Beinke) Asplund, the first of three children. She grew up on her family’s 100-acre strawberry and raspberry farm. After high school, Phyllis moved to Minneapolis to work for Western Union as a switchboard operator, where she earned the award for Fastest Switching Clerk in the United States.

On May 3, 1952, Phyllis and Albert H. Deisting were joined in holy matrimony at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins, MN. Phyllis and Albert loved to travel and were able to visit all forty-eight lower states, Canada, and Mexico. God blessed their marriage in many ways, including the gift of three sons, Gary, Randy, and Mark.

Phyllis was a consummate caretaker and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always ready to serve something delicious from her kitchen, oftentimes with ingredients fresh from her garden, which produced bountiful harvests that she shared with family and friends. Phyllis enjoyed crafting, fishing, playing cards, socializing, and, in later years, spending time with her four grandchildren. She was also a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Phyllis joins the saints in heaven alongside her husband, Albert; and son, Gary.

She is survived by her sons, Randy (Nancy) and Mark (Charlene) Deisting; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Allison, and Missy; sisters, Theodora “Buzzy” Olson and Donna Mae Levens; many nieces and nephews; and friends.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, November 18, with visitation one hour prior at Salem Lutheran Church in Greenfield, MN. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 4-7 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home in St. Michael, MN.

The pallbearers will be Ashley Deisting, Michael Deisting, Allison Deisting, Melissa Deisting, Tim Levens and Dwight Deisting.

David Fricke, 79

David Arthur Fricke, age 79, of St. Michael, passed away November 5, 2022.

He was born on December 23, 1942, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Arthur and Dorothy (Shockley) Fricke.

After high school, he attended the University of Cincinnati where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Planning and Zoning. He met his future wife, Linda Joos, on a blind date, and the two were joined in marriage in 1966 in Cincinnati.

His job relocated the family to Minnesota. Their son, David, was born in 1968, and their daughter, Donna, was born in 1972. He proudly worked for 32 years as an executive director of the Minnesota Association of Townships in St. Michael before retiring in 2012.

David was an avid boater, often spending his free time on the St. Croix River. David also enjoyed spending time in Florida. He was a member of the Masons in Monticello and Lion’s Club in St. Michael.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy; and brother, Richard.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; children, David Fricke and Donna (Mike) Steuernagel; grandchildren, Tia Bliese, Nick Steuernagel, and Trent Steuernagel; and other friends and relatives.

A private service will be held for the family only.

Sally Froemming, 87

Sally E. Froemming, age 87, of Annandale, went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2022, at St. Cloud Hospital.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Sally will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at Buffalo United Methodist Church, 609 8th Street NW, Buffalo, with Pastor Bill Reinhart officiating. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website. Memorials are preferred to the Annandale Fire Department or Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Sally Eileen Snider was born on December 14, 1934, in Nappanee, Indiana, to Russell and Wilma Snider. Sally grew up in Nappanee where she graduated from high school in 1952. She then attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, graduating in 1956 with majors in music education and education and minors in English and social studies. Sally was united in marriage to Russlie Froemming on July 18, 1959. After living one year in California, they moved to Hutchinson, MN, and then to Annandale, MN, in 1967. Sally taught school in Illinois, California, and Glencoe, MN, before teaching for 26 years in Annandale. She was named Teacher of the Year twice during her teaching career. She loved creating board games, posters, bulletin boards, and activities for her students that many of her students will remember. Her love for teaching and her students impacted hundreds of children over the course of her career.

Sally was a member of the United Methodist Church at various locations, including Hutchinson, Annandale, and Buffalo. Some of her volunteer work over the years included being a Sunday school superintendent, teaching Sunday school, helping with Meals on Wheels, and crocheting prayer shawls and plastic sleeping mats for the homeless. Sally was a talented musician playing the flute, accordion, piano and organ. She used her musical gift to bless others; she was the church organist and pianist for the Annandale United Methodist Church for several years. Not only musically talented, but also creative, Sally always had a project to work on; be it painting in her early years; ceramics while her children were growing up; crocheting, tatting, scrapbooking, and card making upon retirement; and finally coloring intricate coloring sheets with colored pencils when it was too difficult to hold a crochet hook due to her arthritis. Sally also enjoyed reading, working on Sudoku puzzles, spending a few minutes each day connecting with family and friends on Facebook, and showing her competitive spirit playing board games with her children and grandchildren.

Sally’s family brought her great joy, and she loved when family was together. Sally was a kind, compassionate, caring, thoughtful person. She will always be remembered for her encouraging words to all she met. Sally loved God and loved people.

She leaves behind her husband, Russlie, of Annandale; three children, Timothy (Barb) Froemming, Jody (Jon) Strand, Todd Froemming; and daughter-in-law, MaryJo Froemming; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Phil) Lehman; brother, James Snider; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rustie; and brother, Charles Snider.

Sally’s grandchildren will serve as honorary casket bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.

Judy Paumen, 63

Judy A. Paumen, age 63, of Maple Lake, died Friday November 11, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Kevin Magner as Celebrant. Visitation was held 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Judy Ann Paumen was born on July 8, 1959, in Watertown, Minnesota, to Roland and Gladys (Huncha) Hayes. She attended high school in Buffalo and graduated with the class of 1977. Judy was united into marriage to Dale Paumen on November 21, 1987, at St. Timothy Catholic Church. Judy was a devoted and dedicated wife. She worked for 34 years as a cook for Maple Lake School District. Judy cherished time spent in her garden and canning vegetables for her family. Her spicy pickles and, most importantly, her unconditional love will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her husband, Dale Paumen, of Maple Lake; brother, Steve Hayes, of Montrose; brothers-in-law, Mark (Kris) Paumen, of Monticello, Keith (Florence) Paumen, of Maple Lake, and Neil (Chris) Paumen, of Maple Lake; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Gladys Hayes; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and LaVonne Paumen.

Tom Huncha, Mike Huncha, Nick Paumen, Matt Griffith, Keith Paumen, Neil Paumen, and Mark Paumen will serve as casket bearers. Krista Elsenpeter and Shannon Paumen will provide music for the service.
