Scott Angermeier, 59
Scott Lee Angermeier, age 59, of Rockford, MN died Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born in St. Louis Park, MN on October 3, 1963, the son of Lawrence M. and Betty J. (Smith) Angermeier.
Scott was joined in holy marriage to Beverly G. Rosenbush on November 1, 1986, at the United Methodist Church in Fairchild, WI. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.
He enjoyed going out to eat with his family and bowling. Scott loved his cats. He was also an organ donor.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters April (Landon) Erickson and Chelsey Angermeier all of Buffalo; siblings Pamela (Randy) Luing, Monica (Dale) Kuka, Jason Angermeier and Tiffany Cole (special friend Brad Pomrenke); mother-in-law Sharon Rosenbush; many nieces, nephews and extended family further survive.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law William Rosenbush.
Funeral services for Scott Angermeier will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford, MN. Lunch will follow at the Rockford Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 27, one hour prior to services.
Casket bearers will be Bruce Keesling, Wade and Dustin Murray, Dale Kuka, Landon Erickson, and Jason Angermeier.

Marian Botzet, 86
Marian A. Botzet (May 1,1936 - October 22, 2022), age 86 of Crystal passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022, with her children by her side.
Marian was raised in Belle River, MN. That is where she met the love of her life and married Melvin in 1959. Marian and Melvin moved to Crystal, MN after their first three of five children were born. Marian was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Rockford, MN in 1972.
A self-taught cake decorator, she obtained a job decorating cakes at the local Red Owl bakery. She baked and decorated wedding, birthday and all occasion cakes for 45 years, and was affectionately known as the “Cake Lady.” Many people have had a cake baked and decorated by Marian! She also worked as a dental assistant/receptionist, not retiring until she was 75 years old!
She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved greatly and was greatly loved and will forever be in our hearts.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Beverly (Verlon) Schmitz, Brenda (Charles) Olson, Bernice (Andrew) Bertram; sons, Brian (Noel) Botzet, Bernard Botzet; grandchildren, Zachary (Kate) Schmitz and Vanessa Olson; great grandchildren, Ena and Connor Schmitz; sister, Sr. Mary Georgine Larson, OSF; many close relatives and friends.
Marian was preceded in death by husband, Melvin; parents, George and Marie Larson; mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Ellen; brothers Raphael Larson and Kenneth Larson. Marian enjoyed polka music, and never missed “Polka Spotlight” at Noon! Her dream came true recently when she attended a live taping of the show and was introduced on the air! She also loved plants and gardening.
She enjoyed spending time on the computer (including some time for “resting her eyes!”). She loved country music, square-dancing, crocheting, crafting, and making hand-made cards. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing 500, and having a beer or two at her assisted living facility’s “Happy Hour!”
Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 27, at The Church of St. Mary of the Lake, 105 Forestview Lane, Plymouth with visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Bernice Dalbec, 80
Bernice “Beetzie” Leona Dalbec, from Delano, MN, passed away October 22, 2022, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 80.
Funeral services are pending at Zion United Methodist Church of South Haven, MN.

Clayton Diskerud, 85
Surrounded by family at his home in Waverly, MN, Clayton Lorentz Diskerud passed away on October 22, 2022, at the age of 85.
The son of Helma (Nelson) and David Diskerud, Clayton was born in Minneapolis in 1937. He grew up in St. Louis, MO, attending elementary and junior high school there before the family moved to Riverdale, ND. After graduating from Riverdale High School, Clayton attended Carthage College at its original campus in Carthage, IL. There he met the love of his life, Shirley Eller. They graduated in 1959 and were married that summer. The newlyweds moved to Minneapolis, where Clayton earned his Masters in Education at the University of Minnesota.
In 1963, Clayton accepted a job offer from his alma mater, prompting a return to Carthage. The college had just relocated to a beautiful new campus on the shores of Lake Michigan in Kenosha, WI. Clayton spent his entire career there, inspiring students for over 35 years through courses taught in Criminal Justice, Political Science, and his favorite: Racial and Cultural Minorities. In 2000, Carthage honored him with their Distinguished Alumni Award. The college remained an important part of Clayton’s entire life. He and Shirley frequently attended Homecoming events, hosted alumni gatherings, maintained close friendships with many dear classmates and colleagues, and often supported the college through gifts and memorials.
In addition to teaching, Clayton was a talented writer. His column, Clayton’s Corner was a regular feature in the Kenosha News for many years. While he was considered an outdoor columnist, Clayton developed a following that extended far beyond anglers, hunters and environmentalists. This was due to his sharp wit and the interesting history, trivia, and personal anecdotes he wove into his writing. Upon retirement, he and Shirley moved back to Minnesota. There Clayton found a new home for his column at the Annandale Advocate. Clayton’s Corner was a popular feature for the newspaper for 25 years.
Clayton survived colorectal cancer at the age of 75. At the suggestion of his oncologist, he joined a gym to improve his overall health. Before long he hired a personal trainer and began training for the Minnesota Senior Olympics. A bronze medal win in the javelin at his first Senior Games was just the beginning. After that he added the North and South Dakota Games to his schedule; and his list of events grew to include the discus, shot put, long jump, standing broad jump, 100-yard and 50-yard dashes and baseball throw. A two-year cancellation of the Games due to Covid, and the return of his cancer in 2021 ended Clayton’s participation in the Senior Games, but not before he tallied an impressive medal count: 4 bronze, 5 silver and a whopping 23 gold.
Clayton was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee or breakfast, exploring country roads on leisurely drives with Shirley, taking his labradoodle Ebony to the park, doing Cryptogram puzzles, watching favorite TV shows (Jeopardy and Sunday Morning), and following sports (especially St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Vikings football). His very favorite pastimes however, were fishing and the telling of fish stories.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Warren Diskerud and sister-in-law Rebecca Diskerud. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley (Eller) Diskerud; son William (Mary) Diskerud; daughter Debra (Randy) Hatanpa; grandchildren Lauren (Brian) Doolan; Nicholas (Alexa) Diskerud; Kaitlyn Diskerud, Matthew (Amy) Hatanpa; Micka (AJ) Sieve; Corey Hatanpa and Chad Hatanpa; 5 great-grandchildren; brother David (Alfreda) Diskerud; sister-in-law Darlene Bueker; cousin June (Michael) Parsons; 6 nieces, 3 nephews, and many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Clayton Diskerud will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale on Tuesday, November 1st at 11:00 a.m., following a visitation at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Carthage College, the American Cancer Society or St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Zita Eull, 92
Zita C. Eull, age 92, of St. Michael passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2022, at The Legacy of St. Michael.
She was born on February 10, 1930, in Albertville the daughter of Joseph & Cecilia (Kolles) Becker.
On April 18, 1953, Zita C. Becker and Kenneth A. Eull were joined in holy marriage at The Church of St. Albert in Albertville. God blessed their marriage with six children.
She was a faithful and active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. Zita belonged to the C.C.W. and Catholic Aid. She also formerly taught religion and was a longtime trustee of The St. Michael Catholic Church.
Zita is survived by children: Karen (Roger) Willenbring of Elk River, Joe (Lorann) Eull of St. Michael, Debbie (Bill) Honek of Elk River, Kevin (Sue) Eull, Paul Eull and Pete (Deb) Eull all of St. Michael; twelve grandchildren: Kelly (Tom Nonweiler) Eull, Ryan (Jess) Eull, Calvin (Annalie) Eull, Evan Eull, Carter Eull, Cole (Taylor) Eull, Tanner (Megan) Eull, McKenna (Mitchell) Dold, Amy (Pat Martin) Honek, Gina Honek, Elyssa Eull and Cory Eull; six great grandchildren: Maya Eull, Quinn Eull, Ella Nonweiler, Holden Nonweiler, Charlotte Eull and Luella Eull; sister-in-law: Betty Ann Conway; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth A. Eull on July 14, 2012, her parents, siblings Melanie Hoffmann, Monica Heuring, Caroline Scholl, Sister Yvonne OSF, Florence Heuring, Tillie Schendel and Andrew Becker.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Zita Eull was held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. Father Brian Park was the Celebrant. Interment St. Michael Cemetery. A visitation was held on Wednesday, October 26 one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Casket Bearers will be Zita’s six granddaughters.

Jerome Hance, 90
Jerome W. “Jerry” Hance, age 90, of Buffalo passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born on January 19, 1932, to Wilfred and Helen (Reintjes) Hance of Buffalo.
He grew up in Buffalo and graduated from High School in 1949.
Jerry managed The Buffalo Municipal Liquor Store for over thirty years.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was also a fabulous cook and had a knack of preparing wild game.
Jerome “Jerry” Hance was united in holy marriage on November 26, 1960, to Delores “Dee” Broll of Waverly. God blessed their marriage with five children.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years: Dee Hance; children: Tim Hance, Greg Hance, Sue (Dean) Piche, Paul (Nicole) Hance and Corey (Julie) Hance; grandchildren: Octavia, Claude and Didier; a brother: Larry (Diane) Hance; brother-in-law: Ralph Gnitka and by a sister-in-law: Erva Hance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Kathleen Gnitka, Joan Schaust, Rita Kunkel, Estelle Schaust and Edward Hance.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome “Jerry” Hance will be held on Friday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Father Nathaniel Meyers will be the Celebrant.

Jorden Hartwig, 29
Jorden (Guddal) Hartwig - dedicated wife, daughter, sister, fur mama and friend of many - tragically passed away on October 15, 2022 at the age of 29 while making a fall visit in Ironwood, Michigan. She previously was struck by a vehicle while on her scooter on August 30, 2022, she sustained serious injuries and complications that ultimately caused her death.
Jorden was joyously born to Eric and Erlene Guddal in Buffalo, MN July 1, 1993. She graduated from Maple Lake High School and studied at SCTCC.
She enjoyed spending time with her colleagues each day and made her career as a Manager at Camping World in Monticello, MN.
In 2015, she met the love of her life Ryan Hartwig; as their love grew, they decided to become one and married September 14, 2019, in a beautiful garden wedding. They built a life in Buffalo, MN, owning a home and sharing it with their fur babies Koda, Jax, Milo, Otis, and Nigel. Jorden loved all animals.
She was passionate about everything she did: Creating mosaics, going to sporting events and traveling. She holds a special and unique memory for each of us and will always be remembered as a fun person with a playful heart, full of joy that loved and cared deeply for her family and friends.
Jorden is survived by her husband Ryan; parents, Eric and Nancy Guddal; parents Erlene and Paul Seely; brother Brandon and Laura Guddal; sister Nicole Guddal; and best friend Brittany Callahan as well as extended siblings, family, friends, mentors, and coworkers. All who touched her life loved her dearly and contributed to the person she became.
The Celebration of life will be held at Zion Lutheran Church (1200 MN 25 Buffalo, MN 55313). Please join us October 28 during the hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Join us to share memories of Jorden and a luncheon will be provided in the Parish Hall.

Nancy Helmbrecht, 69
Nancy Lee Helmbrecht, age 69, of Annandale, died Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, October 25, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale with Fr. Kevin Magner as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale. Visitation continued one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Nancy Lee Marie Logeais was born April 24, 1953, in St. Cloud to Adilore and LaVela (Triplett) Logeais. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Annandale High School. On July 3, 1971, Nancy was united in marriage to Ralph Helmbrecht at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. They raised their family in Albion Township, rural Annandale. Together, they owned and operated Helmbrecht Sanitation for 31 years, retiring in 2020, when they sold the company to Waste Management. Nancy enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles, baking, and cooking. In her younger years, she loved to be outdoors riding her horses. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; daughter, Chantell Lee (Charles) Buschel of Annandale; grandchildren, Skylee, Brayden and Alannah Buschel; brother, Dennis Logeais (Sharon Hoffman) of Annandale; sister, Jeannine (Lester) Wurm of Maple Lake; her dog Tasha and grand-dog, Walter; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adilore and LaVela Logeais; son, Brian Helmbrecht; sister, Joyce Schmidt; and brothers-in-law, Dale Schmidt and Gary Helmbrecht.
The casket bearers will be Shane and Darin Wurm, Josh Wylie, Brandon, Joel and Bobby Helmbrecht, Wade and Warren Logeais.

Lorna Montzka, 84
Lorna Ann (Shirk) Montzka, age 84 of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away on October 16, 2022.
She was born on September 13, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minnesota; the daughter of Merle and Geneva (Hanson) Shirk.
Lorna grew up on the Shirk family farm and in the nearby town of Bricelyn, MN, graduating from high school there in 1956. She attended Mankato State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and Science Education. Soon after, she continued her studies by completing a Master’s degree at Colorado State College in Greeley.
In 1959, Lorna began her career as an educator in Kimball, MN where she met fellow high school teacher Carl Montzka. They were joined in marriage in Bricelyn, MN in 1960. Their teaching careers continued together in Kimball before taking them to Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD, Blue Earth, MN and Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1967, they returned to Blue Earth and made it their home for the next 20 years.
In December 1967, Lorna sustained life-threatening injuries in a devastating auto accident while returning home from work, and it would leave her with serious physical challenges for the rest of her life. But after many months of hospitalization and grueling physical therapy, her determination and perseverance enabled her to walk again and return to many of the activities she loved most.
After recovering, Lorna left teaching to focus on her family at first, but she soon found new ways to continue serving as an educator and contributor to the community. She began to share her knowledge and love of sewing, knitting and Scandinavian needlepoint first with family and friends, and then in community education classes. A person of strong faith throughout her life, Lorna remained very active in the United Methodist Church and would eventually serve in several leadership roles.
Lorna also devoted her leadership and communications skills to community programs. She served on both the local Human Services board and the Region 9 Development Commission, with much of her work centered on improving the lives of those in need around her. She also chaired the Blue Earth Public Library Board that was responsible for the design, relocation and construction of a new library which continues to serve Faribault County capably almost 50 years after its completion.
Eventually Lorna returned to teaching professionally after she and Carl moved in 1987 to Buffalo, MN, where she taught Adult Living Skills for special needs students at Wright Technical Center part-time before retiring in 1995. After Carl’s retirement from school administration in 1998, the couple spent winters in Mesa, AZ, where they were blessed with new friendships and new chances to serve others. Lorna helped organize an online card crafting group which became so close-knit that they traveled from around the US and Canada to meet in person on several occasions in Mesa. She also shared her self-taught computer literacy by organizing and leading computer crafts and iPad groups to help her fellow Leisure World senior residents use technology more easily in their daily lives.
Lorna found joy in other activities outside of service to her community. She loved both reading and writing, and spent much of her later years immersed both in countless books and in correspondence and conversation with friends and loved ones. She and Carl together enjoyed spoiling their granddaughter June and beloved chihuahua Ginger, and rooting for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Lorna lived her life with relentless determination infused with a humor and grace that made her an inspiration to others, and a source of joy to those closest to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Geneva Shirk.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Carl; son, Jeff; granddaughter, June; sisters, Kathy Keever and Karen (Jim) Hoffman; aunt, Julienne Tesarek; nephews, Mark and Michael Johnson, Chris and Ben Hoffman; Niece, Julie (Mark) Sahr; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Debra Novacek, 68
Debra J. Novacek, age 68, of Nashwauk, formerly of Foreston and South Haven, died Sunday, October 23, 2022, under the care of hospice and her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 28, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, both at the church. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.
Debra Jane Kohnen was born June 10, 1954, in Maple Plain, Minnesota to Gerald and Alicia (Steffens) Kohnen. Deb grew up on the family farm near Rockford, along with her six siblings. She attended school in Rockford, graduating with the Class of 1972. On October 22, 1982, Deb was united in marriage to James S. Novacek at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly.
They lived on a hobby farm outside of Montrose for their first 19 years of marriage, before moving to another hobby farm in rural South Haven, where they raised their family. In addition to farming alongside Jim, Deb also worked as a home health aide. In 2012, Deb and Jim moved to Nashwauk, before moving to Foreston in 2016. Following Jim’s death in 2020, Deb moved back to Nashwauk.
Deb enjoyed showing sheep for 4-H, as well as at the State and County Fair, spectating tractor pulling events, tending to her garden and vegetable gardens, base jumping, and sewing. She also loved to be on the lake, whether fishing or boating. Nothing brought Deb greater joy than spending time in the presence of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Debbie is survived by her children, Mike (Kori) Maas of Watkins, Tammy (Eric) Clausen of South Haven, Jesse Novacek of Nashwauk, and Patrick (Tina) Novacek of South Haven; grandchildren, Taylor (Evie), Tucker, Allyssa, Rylee, Daisy, Melanie, Lydia, and Gabe; great-grandson, Jax; siblings, Mary Ellen (Arnold) Bechtold of Becker, Donald (Carol) Kohnen of Paynesville, Robert (Laurie) Kohnen of Paynesville, and Terri (Glen) Fleischhacker of Albany; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Alicia; husband, Jim; brother, James Kohnen; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Joseph Fleischhacker; niece, Brenda Kohnen; and nephew, Spencer Kohnen.
Eric, Adam, and Steven Novacek, Andrew Musolf, Glen Fleischhacker, Jordan Kohnen, and Mitch and Brandon Schindele will serve as casket bearers. St. Ignatius Music Ministry will provide music for the service.

Dawn Robinson, 60
Dawn Christine Robinson, age 60, of Rockford passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
She was born in Richfield on August 16, 1962, the daughter of Jim and Melinda (Woskie) Jared. Dawn graduated from Burnsville High School in 1980. She later received an accounting degree from Augsburg College. On May 21, 1994, Dawn Jared and Scott Robinson were joined in holy marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Deep Haven. God blessed their marriage with two children.
She was employed for many years as a mortgage processor. Dawn enjoyed reading, especially Christian novels. She also was fond of watching game shows on T.V. She loved roses.
Dawn is survived by her husband: Scott; children: Melinda Robinson and Tanner Robinson; her stepmother: Paula Jared; brothers: Mark Jared, Tim Jared and Daniel (Julie) Jared; a sister: Angela (Mitchell) Humphrey; her mother-in-law: Martha Robinson; a brother-in-law: Ken (Carmen) Robinson; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law Brad Robinson.
