Obituaries 07/31/25

Senator Bruce Anderson, 75

March 12, 1950 – July 21, 2025

Senator Bruce Douglas Anderson, of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away on July 21, 2025, with his beloved wife, Ruth, by his side.

Born on March 12, 1950, in St. Paul, Bruce was the eldest of eight children born to Clarence and Myrtle Anderson. He was raised on a dairy farm in East Bethel, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. In high school, Bruce was active in both sports and theater, participating in wrestling, football, and track.

After graduation, Bruce attended North Hennepin Community College and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. While at sea in the Mediterranean, he gave his life to Christ—an experience that transformed the course of his life.

While his ship was docked in Norfolk, VA, Bruce was set up on a blind date with Dottie Adams. After a short courtship, they were married in 1973. They shared a deep faith and a mutual passion for politics. Together, they raised five children in the Buffalo area and were deeply rooted in church life. Bruce and Dottie were part of the founding group for Buffalo Evangelical Free Church in 1989 and later helped plant a new Free Church in the city of Montrose.

Bruce always loved the outdoors, spending much time planting fruit trees and flowers and feeding and watching the birds. He loved deer hunting and looked forward to it every fall. It was a cherished tradition he shared with his family—filled with stories, early mornings, and time spent together in the woods.

In 2006, Dottie was diagnosed with late-stage cancer and passed away shortly after her diagnosis. Through the church in Montrose, Bruce met Ruth, and the two were married in 2009. Their shared faith, love of community, and zest for life made them a natural match. Together, Bruce and Ruth enjoyed attending parades and political events, spending time at the Wright County Fair, gathering with friends for card club, and Bible studies, and creating cherished memories with their grandchildren.

The military was a deeply meaningful part of Bruce’s life. After his time in the Navy, he rejoined military service in 1986 with the Minnesota Air National Guard, where he served until 2005. What drew him back was the camaraderie and his love for the service weekends, where he connected deeply with fellow soldiers. In 2006, he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 27th Aerial Port Squadron at Fort Snelling, retiring in 2010 at the rank of Master Sergeant.

Before entering political service, Bruce earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Northwestern College and excelled in both agricultural and business sales. Bruce had a remarkable gift for connecting with people and a heart for public service. Motivated by his experience raising a daughter with a disability, he entered politics to advocate for more inclusive laws and stronger community support. He was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1994 and served until 2012, when he was elected to the Minnesota Senate. He continued serving in the Senate until his passing, always grounded in the belief that relationships were the foundation of good governance. Whether attending local events or chatting with constituents, Bruce made everyone feel heard and valued—there was never a stranger in his presence.

Bruce is preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie; his parents, Clarence and Myrtle; his brother, Brian; and his nephew, Jonathan.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Leah, Rachel (Reed), Janelle (Jason), Emily, Ben (Beth), Kris (Dale), Jeremy (Dani), and Elise (Zack); 14 grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (John), David (Cheryl), Ruth (Dale), Julie (Randy), Merri (Kirk), and Valerie (Colin); and many extended family members and friends.

He will be remembered for his deep faith, servant’s heart, and unwavering dedication to his family, community, and public service. Without a doubt, Bruce has now heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Funeral services for Senator Bruce Douglas Anderson were held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at The Evangelical Covenant Church in Buffalo. Pastor Reid Gilbert and Pastor Joel McQueen officiated.

A visitation was held at the church on Sunday, July 27, from 5-8 P.M. Further visitation was held on Monday afternoon, July 28, one hour prior to services.

Oliver Blosser, 82

Oliver Raymond Blosser, age 82, of Buffalo, MN, passed away peacefully at Lake Ridge Care Center on July 24, 2025, and entered Heaven to be with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on January 15, 1943, to Raymond and Gertrude Blosser. He and his brother, Noah, grew up there on the family farm. His parents guided his discipleship at home with times of prayer, Bible study, and memorization of Scripture. He prayed to trust Christ as his personal Savior in Sunday School when he was six years old. By the age of twelve, he sensed a call to enter Christian ministry. He graduated from high school in Lancaster and then went on to pursue an education in theology, as a response to the call he knew God had placed on his life.

Oliver pursued an education that would prepare him for ministry, and received his Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary. During this time, he began to explore the Bible in depth and felt led to study Biblical languages in particular. He completed a Master’s Degree in Hebrew and also a Ph.D. in Hebrew at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was greatly influenced by his mentor, Dr. Menaham Mansoor, a Dead Sea Scrolls scholar who taught that the Bible was written to be believed.

Oliver was a respected Biblical scholar. He served in ministry as a seminar lecturer, seminary professor, Biblical history writer, and as a pastor. He pastored churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota, traveled and taught seminars, and taught in Bible colleges and seminaries. He loved teaching the Bible and Biblical Hebrew, preaching, and leading eleven tours to the Holy Land. His amazing knowledge of the Bible and the Hebrew perspective in understanding Scripture made his teaching very unique and engaging. And when he was not studying and teaching, Oliver’s favorite hobby was gardening, and he always had a large, productive vegetable garden.

His family was very important to Oliver. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, going camping, and traveling. He was close to his parents, his brother, Noah, and his family, and his wife’s family and spent as much time as possible with them.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; and his three children, Elizabeth, John, his wife, Emily, and their four children, Samuel, Adina, Tobias, and Eli; James, his wife, Hannah, and their five children, Harper, Hazel, Hudson, Hadassah, and Hollis.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Samaritan’s Purse.

Dr. Oliver Blosser has hundreds of Christian Bible study documents on his website which you can download and study at no cost. Check it out at www.Blosserbiblestudies.com.

Wayne Husom, 78

October 13, 1946 – July 23, 2025

Wayne Donald Husom was born on October 13, 1946, in Minneapolis to John and Hildur (Peterson) Husom. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Wayne attended Seward Elementary through 8th grade and completed 9th grade at South High in Minneapolis. His father passed away when Wayne was in third grade. Afterward, the family spent many summers on his grandmother’s farm in Buffalo. Wayne especially loved being there, spending time helping his uncle and embracing the farm life. He was thrilled when his mother married Leo Schaefer, which meant moving to Buffalo full time and attending Buffalo Senior High School, where he graduated.

Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Canopus, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, with sea duty that often took him to Spain. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Buffalo and attended Golden Valley Lutheran College. In 1969, Wayne married the love of his life, Janice Richardson, at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. They were blessed with four children.

Though Wayne once dreamed of farming, his path led to a varied career in sales, including life insurance, animal feed, gloves, safety gear, rainwear, newspaper delivery, Lutheran Digest ads, and even deer hides. He and Jan lived in several towns across Minnesota but always returned to Buffalo for holidays and family events. After raising four kids, he was thrilled at the thought of becoming a grandfather. Welcoming that first grandchild was a moment he looked forward to with pride and joy. What he didn’t expect was how quickly one would turn into thirteen.

Wayne had a big presence. He lit up every room he entered, and people were drawn to him. He loved people, and they loved him. Though outgoing and full of stories, he carried a quiet and gentle spirit that made others feel at ease. His faith was a cornerstone of his life. He knew his Savior well and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and sharing his beliefs with others.

Wayne had a deep love for the outdoors, and his stories—like the one about the 48” northern he caught off the dock—became family legends. It’s been said Wayne could catch a fish in his own bathtub. He loved fishing trips to Canada, hunting near the family farm in Hancock, and time spent with brothers, children, nieces, nephews, and grandkids—some of whom affectionately called him “Papa Wayno.” His trophies weren’t just on the wall; they lived in the memories he made with those he loved.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Jan; his children, Bill (Holly), Bobbi (Chris Benner), Brenda Schumacher and Ben (Joslyn); and his grandchildren, Grace (D.J.) Shefland, Kate and Scott Husom, Tristan, Colton and Ethan Benner, Mitchell and Samuel Schumacher, Tony, Madison, Madelyn, Brady and Alexander Husom. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Schmidt; brother, Dan (Christine) Husom; sisters-in-law, Joanne Skoglund and Joanie Richardson; and brothers-in-law, Jim (Mary), Steve (Jane), and Bobby (Carol) Richardson.
