Margery Commerford, 90

Margery Ann “Marge” Commerford, age 90, was born July 12, 1935, to Mervin and Polly Sather, Cashel Township, near Benson, Minnesota.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cashel Township. On October 24, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jerry Commerford of Murdock, Minnesota.

Marge worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Bjorklund Trucking, Kjellbergs, and Countryside Carpet. In her free time, she loved spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed golfing at Buffalo Heights where she was active in the ladies’ league and also served on the board. Marge also enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers and cherished time spent with her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Jaime (Chip) Sueker, Shawna (Kurt) Fadden; and son, Corey (Becky) Commerford.

She was a proud grandmother to Stephanie, Nikki (Chris), Jake (Allison), Jana (Bruce), Jessa (Hunter), Kailey (James), Connor (Ashley), Craig (Marcy), Kirk (Kara), Christi, and Stacy (Jed).

Her legacy also includes her great-grandchildren, Devin, Kinzie, Max, Bella, Nora, Jadon, Jolie, Ayda, Kenny, Alexa, Kennedy, Hunter, Drake, Easton, Adison, Anaya, Soren, Noleigh, Riggs, Sophie, Brody, and Bailey; and great-great-grandchildren, Cairo and Scottie.

Also survived by brother-in-law, Burt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry (2004); son, Troy (1969); son-in-law, Mike (2000); great-grandson, Craig; her parents; sisters, Marion, Doris, Dianne, Verona; brothers-in-law, Tom, Lloyd and Ted; sister-in-law, Karen (Jim) Lauder.

Funeral services for Margery “Marge” A. Commerford were held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Pastor Kari Bahe officiated.

Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Buffalo.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, March 10, at the church one hour prior to services.

Jean Hutchinson, 86

Jean Catherine Hutchinson, age 86, of Buffalo, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Parkview Care Center surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 21, 1939, in Annandale, the daughter of Anthony and Agnes (Duckart) Dearing.

Jean graduated from Annandale High School in 1957.

On September 12, 1959, Jean and John “Jack” Hutchinson were united in marriage at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. God blessed their marriage with five children.

She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.   

Jean enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with her lady friends. While maintaining multiple jobs throughout her life, her favorite was working at Cub Foods. She was known for providing food samples and wearing special holiday hats and headbands; some even referred to her as their Cub Grandma. Jean participated in both the Lioness and Jaycees organizations. She also was fond of golf, bowling, crocheting, needlepoint, making Christmas candies, and spending time with her family. 

Jean is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Jack Hutchinson; children, Ken Hutchinson, of Maple Lake, Debora (Charles) Huikko, of Maple Lake, Terry (Steven) Berning, of St. Michael, Diane (Ed) Trager, of Maple Lake, and Robert “Bob” (Katherine) Hutchinson, of Buffalo; fourteen grandchildren, Mahlon, Dale Jr., Michael, Taylor, Jordyn, Cole, John, Will, Lila, Grace, Ella, James, and Charles; eleven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Arlene Tormanen, of New Hope, and Virginia Marohn, of Annandale.

Preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Anthony; grandson, Anthony Huikko; sisters, Phyllis Trewick, Shirley McAlpine, Beverly Paumen, and Patricia Nothnagel; brothers-in-law, Leonard Nothnagel, Paul McAlpine, Clifford Paumen, George Nothnagel, Daniel Tormanen, and James Marohn.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Hutchinson will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Father Austin Barnes will be the Celebrant.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, at the Church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass. 

A luncheon at Huikko’s Event Center in Buffalo will be held following the Mass for family and friends to gather.

Urn bearers will be her two sons, Ken and Bob. The honorary urn bearers will be her grandchildren. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Parkview Care Center and Triniti Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Jean’s stay at Parkview.

Bryce Ramthun, 46

Bryce Edward Ramthun, age 46, of rural Buffalo, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born on July 17, 1979, in Buffalo, the son of Burton E. and Marlene M. (Adickes) Ramthun.

Bryce was baptized on August 19, 1979, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church-Crawford Lake.

He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 10, 1993, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church-Crawford Lake.

His confirmation memory verse was John 8: 31,32 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1997. Bryce later attended Dunwoody Institute.

Bryce was employed in housing construction for many years.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Bryce also played softball.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church-Crawford Lake.

Survived by a son, Alex Ramthun, of Delano; his parents, Burton and Marlene Ramthun, of Buffalo; sisters, Vicki Maas, of Monticello, and Lea Ramthun, of Lewisville, Texas; a niece, Kaylan Wurm, and her significant other, Jesse Zachman; nephews, Maddox Battle and Warren and Griffen Zachman, of Big Lake; step-son, Jayson Gorton, of Delano; special friend, Theresa Schultz, of Delano; aunts, uncles, other relatives, and many friends.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Gladys Ramthun and Clarence and Dorothy Adickes.

Funeral services for Bryce Ramthun were held on Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose.  Pastor James Grabitske officiated.

A visitation was held on Friday, March 6, at the church in Montrose from 4-8 P.M. Further visitation was held on Saturday morning, March 7, at the church in Montrose from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Megan Stuckmayer-Lehrke and Evan Soeffker.

Casket Bearers were Jason Ramthun, Randy Adickes, Dusty Epple, Wade Epple, Darin Adickes, Daryl Adickes, Jake Duske, and Aaron Duske.

Marquietta Shupe, 87

Marquietta M. Shupe, 87, Buffalo, born August 8, 1938, died February 20, 2026. 

She is survived by her sister, Wit; and her daughters, Kim (Bruce), Tonya (Pete); and grandchildren, Grace, Alyssa, and Robbie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ron; son, Robbie; and sister, Marcia.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 507 Calder Ave. NE, Buffalo, MN. Luncheon to follow. Private inurnment. 

Memorials preferred to Buffalo Presbyterian Church or Buffalo Food Shelf.
