Memorial Day ceremony held at Buffalo American Legion
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, the Buffalo American Legion held a ceremony honoring local fallen heroes. The event was well-attended by many members of the Buffalo community.
Music was played by the Buffalo High School band, who performed multiple patriotic songs during the ceremony, including “Taps” and “Star Spangled Banner.” Members of local boy scout troops placed flags in front of crosses to honor the military members who have passed away. Placement of the memorial wreath was performed by Sergeant at Arms Al Gulden.
Clay Wallace, a retired Colonel for the United States Army, was the guest speaker for the event. He spoke about the importance of being patriotic and the importance of those who serve their military. All of his children either served, or currently serve in the military.
Commander Fritz Budig, Blake Trullinger, and Anita Underberg read the POW/MIA roll call. Each name was read out loud to honor each of them individually. The opening and closing prayers were given by Chaplin Gary Johnson.
