Many families across Minnesota and nationally are finding themselves without a job or a reduction in pay or hours.  This sudden loss of income is devastating for both families and communities.  Many community partners are looking for ways to help provide financial education to help families navigate these tough times.

University of Minnesota Extension Center for Family Development offers a Financial Educator Certificate Program (FEC) that helps community professionals better teach others about personal financial management.

The Financial Educator Certificate Program is an online course for community-based professionals. Taking the FEC program will give you the knowledge and skills to teach others how to:

  • Manage financial resources.
  • Build financial assets.
  • Improve financial health and well-being.

You will also learn more about core financial concepts, financial behavior theory, financial education delivery methods, ethics related to financial education and program evaluation.

FEC is an engaging online course that you can do at your own pace. It uses a cohort model, meaning you will learn the same concepts with a group of peers, but you can still complete lessons when you have time. The nine module course runs from September to April.
