Myrna Berglund, 84
Myrna Maureen Berglund (Peikert), 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Myrna was born on July 28, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and spent most of her life in the St. Michael area. In 1957, she met the love of her life, Stanley Berglund, and they were married in 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Minnesota. Together, they went on to have two children, Holly and Guy.
A dedicated worker throughout her life, Myrna held a variety of jobs, including trucking and factory work, before retiring from Minntech in 2007 after nearly 20 years with the company.
When she wasn’t working, Myrna could often be found doing what she loved most, fishing. Alongside her late husband, Stanley, she spent countless hours on the water and ice, creating memories and enjoying the peace that came with casting a line. Her love of fishing became a family tradition that she proudly shared with her grandchildren, Steph and Aaron. That passion continues today through Steph, who has passed the tradition on to Myrna’s great-grandchildren, Cara and Callen.
Following Stanley’s passing, Myrna moved to Henning, Minnesota, where she enjoyed being closer to her daughter, Holly; son-in-law, Ardell; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends were always at the center of her life, and she treasured the time spent with those she loved.
Myrna will be remembered for her wit, her strength, and her unmistakable sense of humor. If you asked her how she was doing and she happened to be in a particularly good mood, her answer was almost always, “fat and sassy,” a phrase borrowed from her late brother, Willis Kiputh. It never failed to bring a smile to those around her.
She is survived by her children, Holly Paulson (Ardell) and Guy Berglund (Carol Staples); grandchildren, Steph Mattson (John) and Aaron Paulson; great-grandchildren, Cara and Callen Mattson; and sister-in-law, Esther Kiphuth; She also leaves behind many family members and friends who will cherish her memory and carry forward the stories, traditions, and love she shared throughout her life.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents, Ernest “Bennie” and Lydia Kiphuth; her brothers, Willis Kiphuth and Benjamin “Benji” Kiphuth; and her sister-in-law, Marie Kiphuth.
Funeral services for Myrna Berglund will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at The Buffalo United Methodist Church. Pastor Amy Strom will officiate.
Interment will follow at Zion Methodist Cemetery in Hanover.
