When the weather heats up, the desire to take a trip away from home may grow. Ruby Home Luxury Real Estate estimates that the United States vacation rental market is $69 billion. It is forecast to grow at a rate of 7.4 percent between 2025 and 2030.

Individuals and families have various options to consider when seeking accommodations for their getaways. Widening a search for accommodations may increase comfort and help travelers stretch their vacation dollars further.

Hotels

Timeshares may be a good fit for people who travel frequently. Chase Bank says a timeshare is a contractual commitment to paying for a vacation property at certain times of the year. Many timeshares are located in hotel properties. People who will not use their timeshare slots for the year may be allowed to sublet them to another, enabling vacationers to try out accommodations in an alternate property.

These options typically offer unparalleled access to sights and amenities while still allowing renters to cook some of their meals at the property, saving on dining out costs.

Vacationers also can turn to some alternative accommodations. Houseboats are floating homes that offer living right on the water. Nature-focused accommodations like yurts or campsites, as well as cultural properties like farmsteads or castles, are some additional options for people looking for a unique vacation experience.
