Dennis Moore, 82

Dennis John Moore, 82, of Oro Valley, AZ passed away peacefully from Mesothelioma at his home on February 28, 2020.

Dennis was born September 1, 1937 at home in Chatham Township, the son of James and Mary (Paumen) Moore. He was a 1956 graduate as well as homecoming king of Buffalo High School. Following high school, he enlisted to serve his country in the United States Navy. He proudly served from 1956 to 1958. He went on to attend St. Cloud State University for one year where he met the love of his life, Ronni Beth Weaver.

He made the decision to attend Dunwoody College of Technology to pursue a career in Plumbing. He worked full-time for his brother, Marvin Moore, in residential plumbing while taking night classes for six years, earning his degree.  He joined the Minneapolis Plumbers Local 15 Union. He was employed by Egan and Sons and then Horwitz Inc. for a total of 30 years. His remaining nine years from 1991 to the end of 1999 were spent as a Business Agent for the Local 15.

He loved his job! The apprentices loved him, and he always encouraged them to be the best they could be. He would joke about what he wanted on his tombstone to read “Here lies Den, he’ll never plumb again.” He helped countless people with any plumbing issue he could. He gave up many a weekend to share his knowledge and give of his time to help others in need.

On November 28, 1963, Dennis John Moore and Ronni Beth Weaver, of St. Cloud, MN were joined in holy matrimony at St. Alphonsus Catholic church in Brooklyn Center, MN. God blessed their marriage with two daughters, Kelly and Lisa. They lived in Crystal for most of their lives until retirement in the year 2000 took them south to Tucson, AZ. They also had a place on the Mississippi in Clearwater, MN, which they were able to enjoy the summer months in Minnesota, for the past twenty years.

They say that happiness is being married to your best friend. He and Ronni were just that couple, best friends that genuinely loved each other.

Dennis prided himself with a job done right the first time. He loved to make people smile with his jokes and quick wit. He always made a point to talk to everyone, regardless their age, and was truly interested in their life. He touched people with his genuine, caring support and incredible ability to leave many with a smile on their face. He was one of those individuals who filled a room as he entered; you always knew when Denny was there.

His signature way to send a card was with a two-dollar bill and write upside down with a smile face at the end. He had endless pride and love for his family, especially his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He loved people, and he loved life! We will always remember a few of his sayings! “Keep the Hodge!” “Top of the day to you!” “Keep the faith and share it a little.” “All days are good; some are just better than others!”

During Denny’s retirement, he belonged to the 18 Hole Men’s golf league at the Views. He volunteered at St. Philip’s in the Hills as a “Phixer,” usher, Casa Maria & Five Points outreach.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Mary (Paumen) Moore; brothers, George (Delores) Moore; Orville (Sarah) Moore; Russell (Laverne) Moore; Edward Moore; sisters, Lauretta (Benny) Lepinski; Marilyn (Moore) Eggersgluss.

Dennis is survived by: his loving wife of 56 years, Ronni Beth (Weaver) Moore, of Oro Valley, AZ; daughters, Kelly (Doug) Schmidt, of Buffalo, MN; Lisa (Scott) Krebs, of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Cody (Maggie) Schmidt, Malorie (Dillon) Peterson, Zach (Allyssa) Schmidt, Justin Krebs and Ryan Krebs; great-grandchildren Jack, Abby and Knox Schmidt; Lennon and Lyndie Peterson; sister Kathleen Ratican; brother, Marvin Moore; sister- in-law, Mary Moore; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marge and Fred Varner; brother-in-law, Melvin Eggersgluss; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday March 4, 2020, at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ 85718. Burial will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in Maple Lake, MN on May 31, 2020 at 2 p.m. Immediately following for all family and friends, a Celebration of Life hosted at The V Grill & Bar by H.H., 66 Maple Ave. Maple Lake, MN 55358, from 3 to 6 p.m. We encourage everyone to share a story about Denny or just a joke that he might have enjoyed at the gathering.

Memorial gifts will be donated to either Children’s or Shriner’s Hospital in memory of Dennis.
