Edward Butler, 58
Edward “Ed” Joseph Butler, age 58, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, following a courageous year-long battle with cancer. A man of quiet character and steady presence, Ed spent his final days surrounded by the love of his family in the community he called home.
Born on March 6, 1967, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ed grew up on Casco Point on Lake Minnetonka and graduated from Mound West Tonka High School. He was a man who found great satisfaction in the simple pleasures of life. He took immense pride in his work at Loram in Medina, a job he truly loved.
While Ed was a self-described “homebody” who cherished the peace of his life in Waverly, he also possessed a spirit of adventure that led him to the outdoors. Whether he was catching the wind on a snowmobile, navigating the waters on a boat, casting a line while fishing, or enjoying a quiet bike ride, Ed was quite at home in the beauty of the natural world. Though he preferred the comforts of home, he occasionally enjoyed the excitement of travel, creating cherished memories along the way.
Above all, Ed was defined by his love for his family. He was a faithful husband to his wife of eight years, Mary Butler, with whom he built a life of companionship and shared joy. His kindness extended to their “furbaby” companions, Elsie and Bella.
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Kamia (Kim) Lundgren Butler; and his father, Michael F. Butler; and he is survived by his wife, Mary; his mother, Mary C. Butler; his brothers, Steve (Anne), Jim, and Mark (Jennifer); and a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ed Butler was a man of few words, but he was dearly loved and will be remembered for his steady heart, his gentle spirit, and his enduring faithfulness to those he held dear.
