Changes are on the docket for Buffalo Days

Donations needed, parade route update

Buffalo Days is getting closer and closer!

While Buffalo Days is an annual event, things do tend to change as the years come and go – and, this year is no exception.

New this year, the grande parade will, again, start on 5th St. NE and head south on First Avenue, highlighting the downtown of our beautiful community!  It will turn left/east a block earlier on First St. South due to construction on Second St. South, so phasing out around the Buffalo Dry Cleaners.

We are excited to host some new marching bands this year, too!

The food court will be setting up in the parking lot by the splashpad starting on Wednesday, June 12 through Saturday, June 15 so you can grab something to eat while watching the parade.  There will be a couple food stations on the parade route as well.

Also, new this year is the change in age limits for the singing competition. Thursday, June 13 is the Buffalo Sings vocal competition and it’s open to anyone at least 15 years old that lives, goes to school, or works in Buffalo.  This event is now open to anyone ages 26 and up!

As always, Buffalo Sings needs singers, and this change widens the opportunity for performers.   It’s a fun night of music before the Schultz Family Band plays and prior to the Movie in the Park, “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

To enroll in Buffalo Sings, contact the Chamber office at 763-682-4902 for more information!

Donations towards Buffalo Days are down this year, and if the community wishes to step up to assure this event continues strong, every $10 you donate, you will get one free Buffalo Days Button.  If your button number is randomly selected there is one $500, two $100 and three $50 prizes available!  Stop in at the Chamber office at 205 Central Ave next to the Post Office.

The event schedule includes:

The Carnival: From June 12 to June 16, the carnival will be in Sturges Park. Advanced tickets can be purchased at Cub Foods, as of Monday, May 13. Cost is $20 for any 10 rides, any day and any time. A BOGO corndog, cotton candy, or snow cone coupon is included with the purchase of carnival tickets. Wristband days are Wednesday and Thursday (June 12th and 13th), from 5 to 10 p.m., and Friday through Sunday (June 14th through 16th) , noon to 4 p.m. It will be $20 for unlimited rides during those specified times.

Thursday, June 13: The Kiddie Parade will be on Thursday, June 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the GRRL library.  Kids will walk from the library to Sturges Park in costume.
