Star Wars event in Buffalo hosted by Make-a-Wish

10-year-old from Watkins getting his wish after three years

The Make-a-Wish Foundation hosted a Star Wars photo opportunity event at Lakeview Antiques and Collectables in Buffalo on Saturday, January 28. The event was hosted for 10-year-old, Teyton Mesenbrink, of Watkins. Teyton attends school at Kimball Elementary. The event was also free to the public, with a free-will donation to raise funds for the Minnesota Make-a-Wish Chapter. Teyton was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age six, but is now in remission.

Teyton has been waiting for his wish from the Make-a-Wish Foundation for years due to COVID. Along with this event, Teyton and his family will also be taking a trip to Disney World.

His parents, Matt and Kristi Mesenbrink, shared how supported they have felt as a family. “Make-a-Wish helped the family. They provided a glow during the darker times,” Matt said. They shared the local chapter kept in touch and showed them a lot of encouragement. “There’s people out there that care,” Kristi stated. Teyton also has two brothers, Ryker and Gavin.

Teyton’s favorite Star Wars character is Darth Vader, and his favorite Star Wars movie is “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” “I like the powers they have and the lightsabers,” he shared. Teyton really enjoyed the event and taking photos with Star Wars characters. At the event, it was available to take photos with the following characters: Shadow Trooper, Mando, Rey, Mara Jade, Republic Commando, Luke Skywalker, and more.

“The event was different than I thought it would be. I had fun,” Teyton said. “My favorite part is when I got to put on one of the helmets. There were fans in there,” he shared. Teyton and his family enjoyed the event and appreciated all the support they have received so far.
