Rose Ann Krause, 94

Rose Ann Krause, age 94, of Rockford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, June 19, 2022. She was born September 30, 1927, in De Smet, South Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Kate (Boss) Rydbom.

Rose Ann was baptized on May 10, 1945, and confirmed in the Lutheran Catechism on May 20, 1945, at American Lutheran Church in De Smet, South Dakota.

Rose Ann was raised in the De Smet-Erwin area where she was raised on the family farm. She attended Erwin Public School. Rose Ann worked on the family farm before working at Lutheran Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota, where she met Gerald “Jerry” Krause.

On November 2, 1945, Rose Ann Rydbom and Gerald George Krause were united in marriage at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. The two were blessed with seven children.

After farming in South Dakota, the family moved to Greenfield, Minnesota, in 1965 and in 1970 moved to Rockford, Minnesota. Rose Ann spent many years working as a nurse’s aide at Delano Healthcare, until she was in her 80s.

Rose Ann was a faithful member of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford, where she taught vacation Bible school that all her grandchildren enjoyed attending. She volunteered her time at Wise Penny for many years. She was also a member of the silver sneakers, Cross Lights, “Birthday Club” and called Bingo at the senior center. Rose Ann enjoyed all things crafting- including crocheting, quilting, and beadwork. She also enjoyed baking, clowns, and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rose Ann had a positive spirit, being able to see the good in everyone. She loved to laugh and kept the room alive. Her generous and caring nature will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Krause; son, George Henry Krause; daughter, Rosella Mae Krause; parents, Arthur and Kate Rydbom; and siblings, Lottie, Ruby, Vernon, Dorothy, Anna, John, Arthur, Barney, Donald, Albert.

Rose Ann is survived by her children, LeWayne (Patti) Krause, Michael (Margie) Krause, Dennis (Dianne) Krause, Cynthia (Kurt) Kessler, Gregory (Paula) Krause; grandchildren, Brandon Krause, Brent Krause, Jason (Aletta) Schaefer, Dustin (Tammy) Krause, Heather (Chris) Cummings, Jaime (Tim) Schendel, Jared Krause, Matthew (Jill) Kessler, Alex (Jessica) Kessler, Todd (Jordan) Kessler, Melissa (Kyle) Bechtold, Molly (Zachary) Jacobson; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Bella, Betty, Hayley, Grace, Madison, Madelyn, Garrett, Oliver, Henry, Abigail, Isaac, Reid, Amelia, Esther, Job, Tobias, Micah, Viviana, Jaxson; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services for Rose Ann Krause will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 4:00 P.M., with visitation one hour prior, at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford with Pastor Michael Barlow as officiant. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.

The Krause family would like to thank you for your sympathy and support during this time of loss. A donation in Rose Ann’s name will be made to Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Yvonne Miller, 93

Yvonne D. Miller, age 93, of Loretto, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022. She was born May 26, 1929, to Maurice and Nellie (Moses) Lucier in Burschville, Minnesota. 

Yvonne was an amazing woman, a loving wife, a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with the ability to do anything she set her mind to. Yvonne always had a quick smile, a quick wit, and a way with words. She had a very kind and caring way about her and was loved by both family and friends.

Yvonne was united in marriage to Wilfred P. Miller on June 18, 1946, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, Minnesota. She was a businessperson her entire life and worked side by side with her husband, Wilfred, in their company, Hanover Sand & Gravel.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; parents, Maurice and Nellie Lucier; sister, Vivian Weinand; and son-in-law, Charlie Barrett. She is survived by her children, Martin (Joan) Miller, Dianne Barrett, Claudia (Dale) Stack, Duane Miller, Loren Miller (Linda Bruhn); 17 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 3-5 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, Minnesota, with a memorial service at 5 p.m.

Private family inurnment will be in the Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Loretto, Minnesota, following the service.

Ramon Thomes, 91

Ramon “Ray” Edmund Thomes was born in 1930 in Arlington, Minnesota, to Mathilda (Murray) and Edmund Thomes. He attended grade school and two years of high school in Arlington and transferred as a junior to St. John’s Prep School in Collegeville, Minnesota. Ray graduated from St. John’s University, followed by two years as a cryptographer and Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Barbara Pluth in December of 1954 and moved to Buffalo, MN, where he joined the J.W. Thomes Insurance Agency staff. Ray bought the agency from his uncle, John Thomes, in 1958, and, subsequently, sold it to his son, Greg, in 1989. Ray and Greg also co-owned Buffalo Bail Bonds from 1992 to 2017.

Ray remained active throughout the years in PIA (Professional Insurance Agents Association) serving as state president, national board member, national vice-president, and public relations for the Minnesota PIA. He was selected as Minnesota Agent of the Year in 1969 and given a Mr. Chairman award in 1974. He also earned a life membership in the Insurance Firemark Society. Ray received his CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation in the first class offered outside of the state of Texas and served as president of the national CIC board. He received a Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification from Hennepin Community College.

Ray was an active member of Serra International (Catholic lay organization) serving as president of the Wright County Chapter and as Minnesota’s District 7 Governor. He was an active member and former Grand Knight of the St. Francis Knights of Columbus council. He was also very active in the Boy Scout organization and was awarded the Eagle Scout rank. Ray achieved the Boy Scouts’ Order of the Arrow, worked summers as waterfront director and counselor at Camp Clyde, and served as Scout Master of the Buffalo Boy Scouts for several years. He sang with the Bisonaires choral group for many years, recording an album and singing at the Minnesota State Fair. Ray served on several local boards, including Buffalo Industrial Development, Inc., Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, Wright County Retirement Center (Park View), and Functional Industries.

Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, skiing, reading, being with his family, and was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and son, Peter. Ray is survived by his children, Greg (Betty), Maple Lake; Cathy Behrens, Sedan; daughter-in-law, Verna, Underwood; Judy, Buffalo; Chris (Ann), Longville; Brian, Buffalo; and by ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Joan Urbanski, Cloquet; sister-in-law, Mary (Pluth) Palmquist, St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M., with a Knights of Columbus rosary recited at 7:30 P.M., at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation one hour prior, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Burial with Military Rites will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Francis Cemetery in Buffalo.
