John Brengman II, 76
John (Rick) Brengman II, age 76, loving Friend, Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Buffalo, MN, on February 7, 2023.
Survived by his children, Bryan (BJ), Bert, Jim (Jennell), Paul, Patricia (Edward), Lawrence (Lisa), and Robert (Tarah); brothers, Jeffrey (Karel), Robert (Joan), Michael (Laurie) and Daniel; other dear in-laws, grandchildren, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, and sons, Michael and Gerald.
Born to John F. and Eleanor Brengman, raised in Rochester, and lived many years on St. Paul’s Eastside, attended and graduated from St. Francis School and Lourdes High School. After several years of college and the novitiate of the Christian Brothers, Rick enlisted in the US Navy as a radioman, achieving cryptic clearance during the Viet Nam war. He served in then VP Agnew’s retinue during his trip to the Philippines in 1969.
He met his life’s love and future wife of 30 years, Pat Walters. Together, they owned and ran Shirley’s Diner in Minneapolis and began the Trinity Missions Food Shelf in St. Paul in 1982. Rick brought exacting devotion to all he did.
Thank you to the staff at Allina Hospice and their nursing care units for the excellent care provided to Rick, as well as the support provided by many of his high school classmates who volunteered at the Food Shelf and continued to visit and support him at the end.

Visitation was held Monday, February 13, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, MN (119 Central Ave).

Interment with military honors took place at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood City, WI, where he’ll be with his wife, Pat, next to his paternal Grandparents.

Richard Briggs, 53
Richard A. “Rick” Briggs, age 53, of Buffalo, MN, formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his residence from a two-year battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertow, SD with Father Richard Fox officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Richard Alfred Briggs, son of Dale and Paula (Wirtz) Briggs was born February 14, 1969, in Watertown, SD. He attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1987. Rick worked at Larson’s Clothing while in high school. He went to real estate pre-licensing school while he was a senior in high school and began working for Century 21 Helland Realty right after graduation. Rick worked as a Memorial Counselor for Watertown Monument Works, and then entered the insurance business in 1989 with American Bankers Life Assurance Company. Rick was on the Watertown Volunteer Dive & Rescue Team.
In 1992, he moved to Minneapolis and worked with the Ross Nesbit Agency in their Elk River office as General Manager. In 1998, he moved back to SD and took a position with Norwest in their Groton location as manager of Norwest Insurance, and in 2000, he began working as an agent for Stoudt’s Insurance in Watertown.
In 2001, Rick moved back to the Minneapolis area and found his home with Thomes Insurance Agency in Buffalo, MN. He headed up their bail bond division, and in 2017, he purchased Thomes Bail Bonds.
Rick was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Buffalo, MN, the Knights of Columbus, and the Buffalo American Legion. He began the effort for what became the Elk River Boys and Girls Club, was a past Chairman of the Board of the Elk River ABBA Crisis Pregnancy Center.
He enjoyed golfing, outings at his friend Shawn’s cabin up north, his home at Travelers Country Club on the Mississippi, and being with his family and friends.
Rick is survived by his sisters, Tammy (Briggs) Mashek, Sherry (Paul) Conrad, and Bonita Briggs; and brother, Mike (Loretta) Briggs, all of Watertown; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; his aunt, Donna Briggs; many cousins and friends; a special young lady that Rick thought of as a daughter, Elizabeth Vought; and three grandchildren, Hayden, Austin and Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cindy Briggs; nephew, Victor Briggs; paternal grandparents, Alfred and Margaret Briggs; maternal grandparents, Paul and Ruth Wirtz; and many uncles and aunts that Rick loved very much.

Andrea Cottew, 52
Andrea Rae (Mobley) Cottew, age 52, of Buffalo, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2023. She was born on August 24, 1970, to Robert and Mary Lou Mobley in Buffalo. She was a graduate of Buffalo High School with the class of 1988.
She enjoyed casino games, playing skip-bo, spending time at the lake with her family, visiting with friends, and what she loved most in the world were her two children, Nathan and Nicole.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Brandon); her parents, Buffalo Bob and Mary Lou Mobley; twin brother, Allan (Natalie) Mobley; siblings, Charlene Seaman, and Sheila (Dave) Crawford, Dave (Jana) Exner; nieces and nephews, Robert and Alex Mobley, Theresa, Janie, Mandy, Hannah and Grace Seaman, Allison and Emily Crawford, Tye and Katie Exner; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends!
She is proceeded in death by her son, Nathan; and brother-in-law, Rob Seaman.
There will be a service held at a later date that is yet to be determined.
Darleen Manthey, 74
Darleen L. Manthey, age 74, passed away at home on February 6, 2023, after a year-long battle with cancer. Darleen (Dar) Manthey was born February 19, 1948 in Willmar, MN, to parents William and Beatrice Heike. Dar grew up in Willmar, MN, where she graduated high school. She was united in marriage to Roger E. Manthey. After briefly living in the Twin Cities, they moved to Buffalo, where they made their home for 44 years.
Dar loved working outside with her flower gardens, trees, and shrubs. She loved motorcycle trips to anyplace, long or short trips, and visiting with friends and family.
Survived by her husband, Roger; sons, Mike (Jackie), Erik (Kristen), and Jesse; grandchildren, McKenna, Chase, Mason, and Gabriella; Mother, Beatrice Heike; sisters, Audry Lankey, and Arlys (Doug) Gronli.
Dar was preceded in death by her nephew, Aaron Lankey, and father, William Heike.
She will be sorely missed.
Services will be at Zion Lutheran Church, 1200 Hwy. 25 South, Buffalo, MN, on February 21, 2023. Visitation at 1:00 P.M. and funeral will be at 2:00 P.M.
Dcn. Mike Medley, 75
Deacon Mike Medley, age 75, of South Haven, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 9, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2023, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. Samuel Medley, SOLT as Celebrant. Fr. John Meyer will Concelebrate the mass. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery - East Maple Lake. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Friday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to Options for Women-Cornerstone in St. Michael.
Deacon Michael Allen Medley was born on June 3, 1947, at the Air Force Base in Pensacola, Florida, to Thomas and Patricia (Reilly) Medley. He grew up in Minneapolis. As a young man, he served in the first unit of the Blue Berets in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he fell in love with his longtime friend, Ann Mulcahy. The two were married on December 5, 1970. They had two children, Sara and Samuel.
Mike graduated with highest honors from the University of Minnesota and began his career as a teacher. He taught kindergarten for several years. In later years, when he spoke about his time as a teacher, it was clear how much he cared about each and every student.
He went on to be a skilled carpenter and foreman in residential and commercial carpentry, working on many of the skyscrapers in downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, including the World Trade Center.
In 1980, Mike and Ann purchased land in Southside Township, Minnesota and shortly after began the work of building their own home. In the years after, Mike became a staple in the Annandale Community. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts, acted in community theater, was co-president of the Annandale PTA, and helped plan community events.
After a serious back injury, he sold Apple Computers, and earned an engineering certificate to consult in computer-aided drafting. With a partner, he started a printing business as a graphic designer, and even took up farming for a while.
On September 30, 2000, Mike was ordained a Deacon in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He spent the next 22 years of his life tirelessly dedicated to his service as a deacon at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale, the Church of St. Timothy in Maple Lake, and St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Monticello. Even in his retirement, he continued his diaconal ministry at St. Timothy and St. Ignatius Catholic Churches.
During his first assignment to St. Timothy, he was the Principal of the Catholic school, during which he achieved his master’s degree in Education with a special certification in technology. Every morning, he stood outside the front of the school to greet each student by name and with a smile.
Deacon Mike was passionate about fighting for the underdog. He was a champion for students during his time as principal and was always ready to uplift and fight for others in his life. He was a man of action and a man of deep faith, love, and tenderness.
He was a man of joy and celebration. He loved to laugh and joke, cook, watch movies, listen to upcoming singers, smoke cigars, drink single-malt scotch, ride motorcycles, shoot guns, and traveled the world with his wife, visiting his missionary son.
Deacon Mike beautifully modeled self-giving love to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always ready to help tow a car, give a ride, pick up groceries, come to a sporting event, play a game, teach a new skill, or just sit and listen. His joy was in his faith and in his family.
Deacon Mike is survived by his wife, Ann Medley; his children, Fr. Samuel Medley, SOLT, and Sara (Chris) Riviere; his grandchildren, Baylyn (Jayce) Wagner, Ivy (Traeton) Kubly, Chloe (Hunter) Manka, Gabriel Riviere, Samuel Riviere, Gianna Riviere, Augustine Riviere, Sean Riviere, and George Riviere; his great-grandchildren, Whitley Wagner, Cora Wagner, Henry Wagner, Kaiser Kubly, Saskia Kubly, and baby Manka on the way; his siblings, Thomas “Tom” (Holly) Medley, Theresa Smith, James “Jimmy” Medley, Joseph “Joe” (Karin) Medley, Robert “Rob” (Cheryl) Medley, Richard “Rich” (Kecia) Medley, and Marie (Daniel) Medley-Levison; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Deacon Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Patricia Medley; his brother, Stephen Medley; his brothers-in-law, Bill Smith and David Schwake; great-grandson, Kolbe Wagner; and his nephew, Adrian Medley.
Chris, Gabe, Sam, Gus, and Sean Riviere, Jayce Wagner, Traeton Kubly, and Hunter Manka will serve as casket bearers. Mary Kline and Krista Elsenpeter will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.

Dianne Mosley, 57
Dianne M. Mosley, age 57, of Annandale, died of mesothelioma on Friday, February 10, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Visitation was held 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Dianne Marie Marquette was born May 4, 1965, in Buffalo, Minnesota, the second of six children to Gordon and Shirley (Czech) Marquette. Dianne grew up on the family farm in Chatham Township and attended elementary school at St. Francis Xavier School in Buffalo. During her high school years, Dianne attended Buffalo High School, graduating with the Class of 1983. She then furthered her education in Pipestone, obtaining an agricultural banking degree. For the past 38 years, Dianne has worked for Wright County Journal-Press. On June 27, 1987, Dianne was united in marriage to Daniel R. Mosley at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. They made their home in rural Annandale where they raised their two children.
Dianne was a former member of St. Francis Xavier and current member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Dianne lived her faith as an active member of the church. She was involved with liturgy and environment committees, lector, safety and environment coordinator, Monday night Bible study, the church’s sister parish in the Philippines, and gave her time and talent in the choir. Dianne loved being in the outdoors, and it didn’t matter the season; she found enjoyment in snowshoeing, gardening, or paddle boarding. In the rare occasion she could not be found outdoors, chances were you could find her in the house either canning, cooking, cross stitching, crocheting, or completing needle work. Nothing brought Dianne greater joy than her family, especially her four grandchildren and knowing one more baby was soon joining the family.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dan, of Annandale; children, Jessica (Michael) Weiers, of Buffalo, and Justin (Brittany) Mosley, of Clearwater; adoring grandchildren, Milly and Gordy Weiers, Kenny and Jimmy Mosley; siblings, David Marquette, of Buffalo, Valerie (Rick) Botzet, of Buffalo, Timothy (Jana) Marquette, of Maple Lake, Kevin (Peggy) Marquette, of Buffalo, and Larry Marquette, of Buffalo; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean Mosley, of Charlotte, NC, Janet Mosley, of Coon Rapids, Barb (Scott) Burlager, of Ham Lake, David (Janelle) Mosley, of South Haven, and Mary Mosley, of St. Michael; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

David Randel, 79
David F. Randel, age 79, of Buffalo, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on April 7, 1943, in Buffalo, the son of Fredrick and Mabel (Street) Randel.
He was baptized on May 1, 1943, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 12, 1957.
Dave graduated from Buffalo High School in 1961.
He honorably served his Country in The United States Army Reserve.
On July 3, 1975, David F. Randel and Margaret Lepinski were joined in holy marriage at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Pastor Berwald officiated at the wedding ceremony. God blessed their marriage with a son, Patrick David Randel. Patrick preceded his father in death on June 11, 1998.
David was a devoted husband and father! Farming was his passion. He loved his Hereford cattle and knew each of them by name. He also enjoyed the lake, waterskiing, fishing, yardwork, and the coffee group at Cub Foods.
He was an avid Gophers basketball fan and held season tickets for sixty-one years.
He was a life-long active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. David also belonged to The Buffalo American Legion Post.
In addition to his son, David was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean (Willis) Birkholz and Joan (Reuben) Streich; and by a nephew, Steven Birkholz.
Survived by his loving wife, Margaret Randel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael (Lorrie) Lepinski, Jim (Pam) Lepinski, Judy (Brian) Loberg, Joe (Renee) Lepinski, Johnny (Janice) Lepinski, and Mary (Brian) Benson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Service for David Randel will be held on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church-Buffalo, MN. Pastor Ryan Clark will officiate. The vocalist for the service will be Steve Minkler.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 4-7 P.M. AT THE CHURCH.
Military rites will be accorded by The Buffalo American Legion.
