BID OPENING

Contractor’s sealed Proposals for the 2016 Buffalo High School Stadium and Ball Field Improvements will be received by the Independent School District No. 877, Buffalo, Minnesota, until 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the office of the Superintendent of Schools, in Buffalo, Minnesota, in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by Architects Rego + Youngquist inc., 7601 Wayzata Boulevard, St. Louis Park, Minnesota 55426.

Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud at the above time and place.  Bids received after 2:00 pm will be returned unopened.

A single bid will be received for all of the work.

Envelopes containing bids must be sealed, marked on the lower left-hand corner “Sealed Bid Enclosed” with the name and address of the bidder and the date and hour of the opening and addressed to: Board of Education, Independent School District 877, 214 Northeast First Avenue, Buffalo, MN55313

BID SECURITY

Each bidder must accompany his Proposal with a Cashier’s Check, Bid Bond or Certified Check equal to 5% of the amount of the Proposal payable to the Owner as a guarantee of prompt execution of the Contract in accordance with the Proposal and Contract Documents, and that he will furnish bond acceptable to the Owner covering performance of the Contract.

Prime Contractors may obtain one set of documents for their respective divisions of the contract from the architect upon deposit of the amounts noted, which will be refunded to all bidders upon return of the documents to the architect in good condition within ten days after receipt of bids.  Prime Contractors may obtain an additional set of their own bid category only, for a maximum of 2 total sets of plans, for a second deposit as listed.

Contractors who do not submit bids will receive refund of one half of their deposit for plans and specifications that are returned within ten days after receipt of bids.

Subcontractors or suppliers may purchase the entire set of plans and specifications, for their respective division of the contract, for a non-refundable cost of $75 plus shipping and handling.

Subcontractors or suppliers who desire individual plan sheets or specifications may purchase copies at the non-refundable cost of reproduction and delivery.

A. Winter Activities Review

1. BCMS, John Hayden

Supt. Thielman reported for John that numbers are a little up and down.  Coaches continue to report on great experiences for their athletes.

2. BHS, Nick Guida

MSHSL “Why we Play” is a great program and is paired on the national level. Coaches are asked why they choose to coach and students will also be asked why they choose to play. Football will start August 10th this fall.

Coaches have provided narratives for their specific activities. Fortunate to have coaches who even after many years, are still looking to improve their programs and have students experience growth in their activity.

B. Preliminary General Budget 2015-16, Gary Kawlewski, Miranda Kramer

This is the preliminary look at next year’s budget.  Including a 2% increase in the funding formula which is an increase from our first draft. The addition of the approval of QComp funding is also included. Revenues are dependent on funding from the legislature, student enrollment and board/voter approved levy referendums.  Projecting a 10.8% fund balance which is within our fund balance policy.

6. COMMITTEE REPORTS

LR - Hwy 35 roundabout information meeting will be held on June 15 at 4:30 in the BHS Bison Room. SEE Regional meeting being held this Wednesday and funding will be covered.

Supt Report - Staff have been hired for QComp program.

7. CLOSED SESSION - Superintendent Evaluation
